Things To Do
Because of its idyllic location on the banks of the River Bure, Boy's Own is the perfect base for hiring a boat and exploring the river and nearby broads. If you prefer someone else to do the skippering for you, trips can be booked on the paddle boat ‘Southern Comfort’ which is moored alongside the Swan Inn less than 5 minutes walk through the village.
Fishing is available in season, either from the quayside in the back garden or from one of the local hire boats. Licences are available from the Post Office in the village.
Many people though just enjoy sitting in the back garden watching the boats sail slowly by and spotting the variety of birds that nest in the reeds and wetlands along the river.
Further down the river are the busier villages of Wroxham & Hoveton (10 minutes by car or a leisurely hours cruise). The city of Norwich and beaches and attractions of Great Yarmouth are both easily reachable by car.
